Spinnerette is a comic centered around the titular superhero Spinnerette, a grad student who gains the powers of a spider after a freak lab accident. The series is a loving parody of superhero comics, especially Spiderman, with both real-world comics and in-universe superheroes existing at the same time.
Spinnerete follows Heather Brown, a grad student turned six-armed web-shooter after a lab accident infuses her genes with that of a spider's. With the help of her roommate Sahira, she grabs a costume and begins crime fighting, garnering the attention of licensed superheroes like the cyborg Mecha Maid and spirit-powered (Black) Tiger. Spinnerette joins the team, and fights villainy in a mostly upbeat comic series that sometimes delves into themes of love, revenge, tragedy, and what truly makes a hero.
